You may hear occasional crowd noise and coffee shop ambience,

but we believe the performances speak for themselves.

Ever spent time in a steel town? Ever lost a job? A lover? An ill-advised sporting wager?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you'll probably dig the music of the Steel River Three. This ain't no soda jingle, pilgrims. We play stripped-down Rust Belt folk with enough rock and pop influences to keep the critics guessing and the crowds coming back for more.

Mind you, we've also got a sense of humor. When you grow up in industrial towns like Cleveland, Ohio, like two of our three members did *, you learn to laugh if only to keep from crying sometimes. We've heard all the jabs -- Mistake on the Lake, burning (Cuyahoga) river, "four dead in O-hi-O." Where else would you find T-shirts that say "When you're No. 2, you try harder?"

But that's how it is with us steel town folk. We're constitutionally incapable of getting too full of ourselves. And we have an attitude and a tenacity that most people outside the Rust Belt envy, whether they admit it or not. So we as a band are going to keep chugging away and see how far our music can take us -- whether you like it or not. Chances are you will.

* The odd member is from Colorado, but some rumors maintain that he was actually born in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, and was named after a character on the Dick Van Dyke show.  At this time, we would like to state categorically that these rumors are entirely unfounded, despite birth records to the contrary.
